About Me
I'm Oliver Thomas, and I'm a dedicated environmental professional and sustainability consultant who has been inspired to use my passion to bring about change since the age of 18. My drive stems from a love of nature and an understanding of its importance to our personal and social well-being. The view into the natural world's wonders via the eyes of public personalities such as Sir David Attenborough also opened my eyes to the gradual degradation at the hands of human society.
I had a desire to change things, so I decided to pursue a degree in biology with the goal of becoming a professional conservationist. However, exposed to new concepts and ideas, I evolved from an aspiring conservationist to a Green Biotech enthusiast, and then, after graduation, into a Local Government Sustainability Officer. Now, with seven years of practical knowledge and experience, I have developed and implemented a number of low-carbon initiatives to support decarbonisation at an organisational and city level.
With a well-rounded and refined expertise in a wide range of low-carbon and sustainability solutions, I am able to provide customised sustainability consulting to support people and organisations, no matter how big or small, in taking responsibility for their own environmental footprints and making deliberate efforts to lessen their own and our society's overall environmental impacts.
Some people do not find environmental action to be a top priority, which is understandable, particularly those who are still struggling with the effects of the energy crisis. My goal is to show how environmental sustainability and business sustainability are two sides of the same coin. I can help shape the strategy that, if executed well, will not only produce environmental benefits, but will help to improve your bottom line, helping to establish your brand in an increasingly eco-aware world
My Experience
I acquired seven years experience in local government developing and delivering low carbon projects, and strategies, working as transport innovation officer, Climate Change Project Manager and Service manager for green cities and circular economy. For the most part, our children's safety security and prosperity are the reasons we work so hard, so that we can afford them a better life than we had. But while their material wealth improves, the future outlook fro the environmental and ecological systems we rely on for that wealth is under threat. Through our actions today we are locking our children and grandchildren into socioeconomic uncertainty, and burdening them with the costs for repairing the damage over the next 50 - 100 years, unless we take action today.
